Cardon and Otis

I would be remiss not to post this last pic of Cardon and Otis. Otherwise known as Nathan and Nathan. Too bad our kid got the short end of the stick on height. At 4"10' he's still much shorter then Cardon who has to be around 5"5 or 5"7. These two are two peas in a pod.

Last soccer game and end of season party

One of the parents of the team decided to host the end of season party at the pool in there backyard.
One of the parents from the team decided to host the end of season party at the pool in their backyard. Considering there were 21 boys on the team you couldn't PAY me enough money to have all those boys at my house. It went very well though. The boys stayed outside the whole time enjoying the heat. The parents melted. It has been so hot and humid. The boys had a 9am game and then a 2pm pool party.

Throw in
Nate scored another goal this game. I think he scored 4 or 5 this year. He was so happy to pay forward more often. Personally, I think he's a go-getter. But then I am his Mom and completely biased.

Nate's 5th Grade graduation and Starbase Graduation

Let me tell you how HOT it was today. The AC was not working this day. I thought for sure I was going to melt into a puddle and die there on the spot. Nate graduated from 5th grade on the 21st of May 2010. We are so proud of him. He even won a Presidential award for Math and Reading and his LEAP scores. Way to go Nate. He has worked SO hard this year. His grades started out with mostly Bs and Cs at the beginning of the year and he got them up the last two quarters to straight As.
Mom and Nate
Ironically, I think it should be me squeezing Nate's neck. Chris didn't do much of the homework. I am proud to announce that I am maybe not smarter then a 5th grader but definitely as smart as one. On to 6th grade and middle school.
Nate and Dad

It was really hard to get Nate to smile at me.

Field Day 2010

With his red hat on he was so easy to find. I liked that. While it was hot at least their was a breeze. I couldn't make it for his 50yd dash because of work but I did get to see the last 2 events. He even got to come home early. I think that was his favorite part.
Tennis ball in a plunger. Got 2nd place.

Golfball in a spoon race. They got 1st place. Go Mrs. Slay's class.

Riding with the "Big" boys

This is Billy. He's from the UK. He's been here at BAFB for the last 3 years. I've only known him for 18 months. He is A HUGE cycling fan. I see him almost everytime I go ride. He is moving back to the UK and so we had a last group ride on base. We had 15 people out for the ride. It was a no-drop ride which I thought was a little funny. They still rode fast. No drop must mean ride faster because we don't want you holding us up.
Here are the stats.
Avg speed on the way out=17mph
Avg speed on the way home 20mph
Top speed 30mph (that was going downhill, while drafting behind some bigger boys)
For those in the "know" we rode the flight line coming home at 22-23mph.(FYI-Always a headwind)
Avg HR 169bpm
Max HR 189bpm (thought I was going to die at this point)
Rode 19 miles in 58min16 seconds. That's my course record.
What I learned? That group riding every once in a while can be lots of fun.

Skills I'm still working on: Taking corners. They freak me out. I always see myself crashing. Not great for the ego.
I promise that Chris didn't take this picture. I don't know WHY men think it's great to get shots from behind. Pun intented.

Airshow 2010

The Thunderbirds. I must have over 100 pics of just these planes flying. I have no idea what Chris was doing with the camera or why he thought we needed so many.
Just prove that the ladies DID go to the airshow even though we weren't totally jazzed about it. We left early too. The boys were there ALL day. I think it was about 6pm by the time they showed up again with their sunburns. Actually, Nate didn't burn at all just Chris. He had a very redneck.
The boys seeking some shade. The Cardon's got really burnt. Ouch.

Hammin' it up in front of the monster truck.

I'm really tempted to make this our next Christmas card. Greetings from the south type thing.

Nate and I checkin' out a helicopter. It's used many for anti drug taskforce.

Joshua, Nathan, and Nathan hanging out at the AirShow. They were so excited they didn't have a soccer game that day so they spent all day there.

Family

Chris' Grandfather passed away recently and he flew to Minnesota less then 24 hours after we returned home from Hawai'i. These are just some family pics.
